Vulnerability in electerm (CVE-2026-43944)
Summary
vulnerability in electerm (CVE-2026-43944). Successful exploitation can lead to full system takeover. Exploitable via opts. Mitigation: upgrade to > 3.8.8 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
Impact
Arbitrary local code execution via deep links, CLI --opts, or crafted shortcuts. Affected users: electerm installs that accept protocol URLs or CLI options (affected versions listed in the original report). Exploit requires clicking a crafted electerm://... link or opening a crafted shortcut/command that launches electerm with attacker-controlled opts.

Workarounds
- Disable or unregister electerm protocol handlers (Deep Link settings) and avoid clicking
electerm://links. - Do not run electerm with untrusted
--optsarguments or open.lnk/.desktopfiles from untrusted sources. - Restrict which users can launch electerm on shared machines and avoid leaving electerm installed in locations reachable by other users.
- As a temporary measure, run electerm in a confined account or sandbox (non-admin user) to reduce impact.

AI summary
Written by an external AI model and may contain mistakes. Check the original description and references below before acting on it.
Electerm has a vulnerability whereby unsafe links or command line options could cause unintended code execution. This is similar in impact to the Heartbleed vulnerability, which had a large effect. Affected versions are 3.0.6 to 3.8.8, fixed in version 3.8.15. As a precaution, avoid clicking on potentially unsafe links or executing commands with untrusted options.
The vulnerability in Electerm allows arbitrary local code execution via deep links or command line options like electerm://.... Vulnerable versions are from 3.0.6 to 3.8.8, fixed in 3.8.15. Workarounds include disabling or unregistering electerm protocol handlers and avoiding executing files with untrusted command options or from untrustworthy sources.

-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'electerm' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
electermを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Match against affected range verify
Confirm if version satisfies `>= 3.0.6, <= 3.8.8`Step 1 で見つかったバージョンが影響範囲
>= 3.0.6, <= 3.8.8に該当するか照合。本番で稼働中ならインシデント扱い。 -
6Apply patch patch
Upgrade electerm to > 3.8.8ステージング環境で > 3.8.8 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスと、Step 3 で見つけた異常検知の続報チェックを含めること。
-
7Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番では Step 3 と同じログクエリでアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
