Summary

Vulnerability in Fastjson (CVE-2017-18349). Successful exploitation can lead to full system takeover.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

parseObject in Fastjson before 1.2.25, as used in FastjsonEngine in Pippo 1.11.0 and other products, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted JSON request, as demonstrated by a crafted rmi:// URI in the dataSourceName field of HTTP POST data to the Pippo /json URI, which is mishandled in AjaxApplication.java.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'Fastjson' . | grep -v node_modules

  2. 2
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production
