Vulnerability in Kernel (CVE-2022-48849)
Summary
Vulnerability in Kernel (CVE-2022-48849). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Mitigation: upgrade to 5.16.15 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amdgpu: bypass tiling flag check in virtual display case (v2)
vkms leverages common amdgpu framebuffer creation, and
also as it does not support FB modifier, there is no need
to check tiling flags when initing framebuffer when virtual
display is enabled.
This can fix below calltrace:
amdgpu 0000:00:08.0: GFX9+ requires FB check based on format modifier
WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 1023 at drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/amdgpu_display.c:1150 amdgpu_display_framebuffer_init+0x8e7/0xb40 [amdgpu]
v2: check adev->enable_virtual_display instead as vkms can be
enabled in bare metal as well.

-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'Kernel' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
Kernelを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Apply patch patch
Upgrade Kernel to 5.16.15ステージング環境で 5.16.15 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスを含めること。
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
