Summary
Vulnerability in Kernel (CVE-2024-40981). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Mitigation: upgrade to 4.19.317, 5.4.279, 5.10.221, 5.15.162, 6.1.96, 6.6.36, 6.9.7 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
batman-adv: bypass empty buckets in batadv_purge_orig_ref()
Many syzbot reports are pointing to soft lockups in
batadv_purge_orig_ref() [1]
Root cause is unknown, but we can avoid spending too much
time there and perhaps get more interesting reports.

Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'Kernel' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
2Apply patch patch
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
