Vulnerability in Kernel (CVE-2025-38483)
Summary
Vulnerability in Kernel (CVE-2025-38483). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Exploitable via int. Mitigation: upgrade to 5.4.297, 5.10.241, 5.15.190, 6.1.147, 6.6.100, 6.12.40, 6.15.8 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
comedi: das16m1: Fix bit shift out of bounds
When checking for a supported IRQ number, the following test is used:
/* only irqs 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14, and 15 are valid */
if ((1 << it->options[1]) & 0xdcfc) {
However, it->options[i] is an unchecked int value from userspace, so
the shift amount could be negative or out of bounds. Fix the test by
requiring it->options[1] to be within bounds before proceeding with
the original test.

CVE-2025-38483 (Kernel)
Attack surface: int
Patched: 5.4.297, 5.10.241, 5.15.190, 6.1.147, 6.6.100, 6.12.40, 6.15.8 — apply immediately
Plan: 1) Audit SBOM/dependencies, 2) Stage→prod upgrade, 3) Add WAF/proxy monitoring on affected endpoints, 4) Hunt IOCs in logs.
Refs: see the GHSA / vendor advisory / patched release linked on this page.
A vulnerability (unclassified) exists in Kernel. Attackers reach the vulnerable code path via int.
Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions of Kernel. Attack surface: int.
Severity: ?. Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure.
Update to 5.4.297, 5.10.241, 5.15.190, 6.1.147, 6.6.100, 6.12.40, 6.15.8.
Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.
Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Run grep -r 'Kernel' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.
Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'Kernel' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
Kernelを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Apply patch patch
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
