Summary
Vulnerability reported (CVE-2025-67780). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Exploitable via Referer header.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
SpaceX Starlink Dish devices with firmware 2024.12.04.mr46620 (e.g., on Mini1_prod2) allow administrative actions via unauthenticated LAN gRPC requests, aka MARMALADE 2. The cross-origin policy can be bypassed by omitting a Referer header. In some cases, an attacker's ability to read tilt, rotation, and elevation data via gRPC can make it easier to infer the geographical location of the dish. NOTE: this is disputed by the Supplier because unauthenticated LAN gRPC is intended behavior for certain mobile app integration, and because the cross-origin policy is correctly enforced for gRPC-Web (port 9201), i.e., it is not a valid vulnerability report.

CVE-2025-67780 — CWE-306 / CVSS v3 4.2
Attack vector: adjacent-network / unauthenticated / no user interaction
Attack surface: Referer header
Plan: 1) Audit SBOM/dependencies, 2) Stage→prod upgrade, 3) Add WAF/proxy monitoring on affected endpoints, 4) Hunt IOCs in logs.
Refs: see the GHSA / vendor advisory / patched release linked on this page.
A vulnerability (CWE-306) has been reported. Attackers reach the vulnerable code path via Referer header without authentication.
Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions. Attack surface: Referer header.
Severity: Medium (CVSS 4.2/10). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure.
Update to the patched release per vendor advisory.
Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.
Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Audit SBOM/dependencies to find affected services.
