Vulnerability in cpp-httplib (CVE-2026-102944)
Summary
Vulnerability in cpp-httplib (CVE-2026-102944). Confidential information can be exposed externally. Exploitable via Authorization header.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
cpp-httplib is a C++ header-only HTTP/HTTPS library. Prior to 0.51.0, create_redirect_client() removes Host, Proxy-Authorization, and Authorization headers when following a cross-origin 301, 302, 307, or 308 redirect but leaves Cookie headers attached. detail::redirect() copies the request for those redirect codes, so cookies supplied directly or through default_headers_ are sent to the redirect target. An attacker who controls a redirect response, or a network position for a non-HTTPS origin, can receive session cookies intended for the original origin. A 303 redirect is not affected because that path clears all request headers. This issue is fixed in version 0.51.0.

CVE-2026-102944 (cpp-httplib) — CWE-522 / CVSS v3 7.5
Attack vector: remote (network-reachable) / unauthenticated / no user interaction
Attack surface: Authorization header / Cookie header
Plan: 1) Audit SBOM/dependencies, 2) Stage→prod upgrade, 3) Add WAF/proxy monitoring on affected endpoints, 4) Hunt IOCs in logs.
Refs: see the GHSA / vendor advisory / patched release linked on this page.
A vulnerability (CWE-522) exists in cpp-httplib. Attackers reach the vulnerable code path via Authorization header without authentication.
Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions of cpp-httplib. Attack surface: Authorization header / Cookie header.
Severity: High (CVSS 7.5/10). Confidential information can be exposed externally.
Update to the patched release per vendor advisory.
Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.
Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Run grep -r 'cpp-httplib' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.
