Summary
Vulnerability reported (CVE-2026-15588). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Exploitable via GDBus.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
A denial-of-service and resource exhaustion vulnerability exists within the GDBus component of GLib. The gdbusauth authentication mechanism fails to enforce proper length limitations on data lines read from a client. An unauthenticated local or remote attacker can exploit this lack of input validation by sending excessively long streams of data, causing the application to consume massive amounts of system memory and CPU, potentially leading to a crash or system hang.

CVE-2026-15588 — CWE-770 / CVSS v3 5.3
Attack vector: local / no user interaction
Attack surface: GDBus / gdbusauth
Plan: 1) Audit SBOM/dependencies, 2) Stage→prod upgrade, 3) Add WAF/proxy monitoring on affected endpoints, 4) Hunt IOCs in logs.
Refs: see the GHSA / vendor advisory / patched release linked on this page.
A vulnerability (CWE-770) has been reported. Attackers reach the vulnerable code path via GDBus.
Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions. Attack surface: GDBus / gdbusauth.
Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.3/10). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure.
Update to the patched release per vendor advisory.
Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.
Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Audit SBOM/dependencies to find affected services.
