Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in FreeIPA (CVE-2026-18147)
Summary
Cross-site scripting in FreeIPA (CVE-2026-18147). Confidential information can be exposed externally.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
A flaw was found in FreeIPA. An unauthenticated remote attacker could exploit a DOM Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the FreeIPA/IdM Web UI password reset page. By enticing a victim to click a specially crafted link and complete a password reset, the attacker could inject and execute arbitrary JavaScript code. This allows the attacker to perform actions within the victim's authenticated session, potentially leading to full administrative control if an IdM administrator is targeted.

Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'FreeIPA' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
FreeIPAを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
