Summary
Vulnerability reported (CVE-2026-19033). Data can be tampered with by attackers. Exploitable via named.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
For a secondary zone with transfers restricted by TSIG, named may start to serve the data provided in a zone transfer before the final message with the TSIG signature arrives. This could allow an attacker that does not actually possess a valid TSIG signature to send unauthorized zone contents to a secondary server. Although no TSIG signature ever arrives, named does not rollback to the pre-transfer state. To exploit the vulnerability, the transfer must be a multi-message TCP IXFR, as described by RFC 8945.
This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.11.0 through 9.18.50, 9.20.0 through 9.20.27, 9.21.0 through 9.21.25, 9.11.3-S1 through 9.18.50-S1, and 9.20.9-S1 through 9.20.27-S1.

CVE-2026-19033 — CWE-349 / CVSS v3 6.5
Attack vector: remote (network-reachable) / unauthenticated / no user interaction
Attack surface: named
Plan: 1) Audit SBOM/dependencies, 2) Stage→prod upgrade, 3) Add WAF/proxy monitoring on affected endpoints, 4) Hunt IOCs in logs.
Refs: see the GHSA / vendor advisory / patched release linked on this page.
A vulnerability (CWE-349) has been reported. Attackers reach the vulnerable code path via named without authentication.
Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions. Attack surface: named.
Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.5/10). Data can be tampered with by attackers.
Update to the patched release per vendor advisory.
Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.
Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Audit SBOM/dependencies to find affected services.
Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
Audit SBOM/dependencies for affected components.資産台帳・SBOM・依存マニフェストで影響コンポーネントを特定する。
-
2Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
