CVE-2026-33762 low CVSS 2.8

Vulnerability in go-git (CVE-2026-33762)

Summary

Vulnerability in go-git (CVE-2026-33762). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

go-git is an extensible git implementation library written in pure Go. Prior to version 5.17.1, go-git’s index decoder for format version 4 fails to validate the path name prefix length before applying it to the previously decoded path name. A maliciously crafted index file can trigger an out-of-bounds slice operation, resulting in a runtime panic during normal index parsing. This issue only affects Git index format version 4. Earlier formats (go-git supports only v2 and v3) are not vulnerable to this issue. This issue has been patched in version 5.17.1.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'go-git' . | grep -v node_modules

    リポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で go-git を grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。

  2. 2
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production

    パッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
