Vulnerability in EspoCRM (CVE-2026-41141)

Summary

Vulnerability in EspoCRM (CVE-2026-41141). Confidential information can be exposed externally. Exploitable via POST /api/v1/EmailTemplate/. Mitigation: upgrade to 9.3.5 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

EspoCRM is an open source customer relationship management application. Prior to 9.3.5, the POST /api/v1/EmailTemplate/:id/prepare endpoint accepts an emailAddress parameter and resolves the owning entity (Contact, Lead, Account, or User) without performing an ACL check. An authenticated user with EmailTemplate read permission can extract all field values of any entity by supplying the target's email address, bypassing read: own or read: team ACL restrictions. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.3.5.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'EspoCRM' . | grep -v node_modules

  2. 2
Hunt for indicators of compromise detect
    grep 'POST /api/v1/EmailTemplate/' /var/log/nginx/access.log | grep -E '(unusual_payload|sqli_pattern)'

  3. 3
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade EspoCRM to 9.3.5

  4. 4
    Post-deployment verification verify
Replay attack against POST /api/v1/EmailTemplate/ on staging to confirm patch closes the vector
