SSRF (Server-Side Request Forgery) in requests-hardened (CVE-2026-42175)

Summary

SSRF in requests-hardened (CVE-2026-42175). Confidential information can be exposed externally. Mitigation: upgrade to 1.2.1 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

requests-hardened is a library that overrides the default behaviors of the requests library, and adds new security features. Prior to , the SSRF protection in requests-hardened fails to block IP addresses within the RFC 6598 Shared Address Space (100.64.0.0/10). An attacker who can supply arbitrary URLs to requests-hardened could exploit this gap to access internal services hosted within 100.64.0.0/10. This is for example relevant in environments such as AWS EKS where 100.64.0.0/10 is commonly used as the default pod CIDR. The impact is environment-dependent, deployments that utilize the affected CIDR range for internal networking are exposed to SSRF bypass, while others may not be affected. This vulnerability is fixed in .

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'requests-hardened' . | grep -v node_modules

    リポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で requests-hardened を grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。

  2. 2
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade requests-hardened to 1.2.1

    ステージング環境で 1.2.1 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスを含めること。

  3. 3
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production

    パッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
