CVE-2026-44368

Vulnerability in pyquorum (CVE-2026-44368)

Summary

Vulnerability in pyquorum (CVE-2026-44368). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Exploitable via mul_mod. Mitigation: upgrade to 0.2.1 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

PyQuorum is a cryptographic library for secret sharing and key management. Prior to 0.2.1, the mul_mod function implements multiplication via a binary expansion loop whose execution time depends on the Hamming weight of the second operand (the exponent). An attacker who can measure the time of secret‑sharing operations (e.g., via a remote service) could progressively recover the values of shares, ultimately leading to secret reconstruction. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.2.1.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'pyquorum' . | grep -v node_modules

  2. 2
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade pyquorum to 0.2.1

  3. 3
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production
