SSRF (Server-Side Request Forgery) in sillytavern (CVE-2026-46372)

Summary

SSRF in sillytavern (CVE-2026-46372). Confidential information can be exposed externally. Exploitable via POST /api/search/searxng. Mitigation: upgrade to 1.18.0 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

SillyTavern is a locally installed user interface that allows users to interact with text generation large language models, image generation engines, and text-to-speech voice models. Prior to 1.18.0, SillyTavern exposes /api/search/searxng, which accepts attacker-controlled baseUrl and uses it directly to build outbound server-side fetches. An authenticated low-privilege user can point baseUrl at an internal or loopback HTTP service and receive the /search response body. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.18.0.

🔍 Detection

Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual POST /api/search/searxng requests with malformed payloads or SQL meta-characters. Run grep -r 'sillytavern' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'sillytavern' . | grep -v node_modules

  2. 2
Hunt for indicators of compromise detect
    grep 'POST /api/search/searxng' /var/log/nginx/access.log | grep -E '(unusual_payload|sqli_pattern)'

  3. 3
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade sillytavern to 1.18.0

  4. 4
    Post-deployment verification verify
Replay attack against POST /api/search/searxng on staging to confirm patch closes the vector
