Vulnerability in Envoy (CVE-2026-47204)
Summary
Vulnerability in Envoy (CVE-2026-47204). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Mitigation: upgrade to 1.35.13 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
Envoy is an open source edge and service proxy designed for cloud-native applications. From 1.26.0 until 1.35.13, 1.36.9, 1.37.5, and 1.38.3, the envoy.filters.http.grpc_stats filter crashes (null pointer dereference / segfault) when a Connect protocol request (Content-Type: application/connect+proto or application/connect+json) hits a direct_response route. A single unauthenticated HTTP request crashes the Envoy process. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.35.13, 1.36.9, 1.37.5, and 1.38.3.

Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'Envoy' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
Envoyを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Apply patch patch
Upgrade Envoy to 1.35.13ステージング環境で 1.35.13 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスを含めること。
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
