Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in Budibase (CVE-2026-48149)

Summary

Cross-site scripting in Budibase (CVE-2026-48149). Confidential information can be exposed externally. Mitigation: upgrade to 3.39.0 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

Budibase is an open-source low-code platform. Prior to 3.39.0, the Budibase Text component renders markdown by assigning marked.parse(markdown) straight to innerHTML with no sanitizer (packages/bbui/src/Markdown/MarkdownViewer.svelte:22). Any column a builder binds to a Text component in Markdown mode is a stored-XSS sink writable by every BASIC app user with WRITE on the underlying table. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.39.0.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'Budibase' . | grep -v node_modules

  2. 2
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade Budibase to 3.39.0

  3. 3
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production
