Authentication Bypass in 4gaBoards (CVE-2026-50191)
Summary
Authentication bypass in 4gaBoards (CVE-2026-50191). Successful exploitation can lead to full system takeover. Exploitable via POST /api/register.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
4gaBoards is a boards system for realtime project management. Prior to 3.3.8, 4gaBoards is vulnerable to pre-account takeover when registrationEnabled, localRegistrationEnabled, and ssoRegistrationEnabled are enabled and Google, GitHub, Microsoft, or OIDC SSO is configured. The POST /api/register endpoint permits creation of an unverified local account with a victim's email address, and POST /api/access-tokens permits that account to authenticate while isVerified is false. During the victim's first SSO login, server/api/helpers/users/get-create-one-for-github-sso.js, server/api/helpers/users/get-create-one-for-google-sso.js, server/api/helpers/users/get-create-one-for-microsoft-sso.js, and server/api/helpers/users/get-create-one-for-oidc-sso.js find the attacker-controlled account by email and link the verified SSO identity without confirming ownership of the local account. The attacker can retain local-password access to the linked account and obtain the victim's projects, data, and permissions. This issue is fixed in version 3.3.8.

Attack vector: remote (network-reachable) / unauthenticated
Attack surface: POST /api/register / POST /api/access-tokens
Plan: 1) Audit SBOM/dependencies, 2) Stage→prod upgrade, 3) Add WAF/proxy monitoring on affected endpoints, 4) Hunt IOCs in logs.
Refs: see the GHSA / vendor advisory / patched release linked on this page.
Authentication bypass (CWE-287) exists in 4gaBoards. Attackers reach the vulnerable code path via POST /api/register without authentication.
Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions of 4gaBoards. Attack surface: POST /api/register / POST /api/access-tokens.
Severity: High (CVSS 8.8/10). Successful exploitation can lead to full system takeover.
Update to the patched release per vendor advisory.
Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.
Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual POST /api/register requests with malformed payloads or SQL meta-characters. Run grep -r '4gaBoards' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r '4gaBoards' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
4gaBoardsを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Hunt for indicators of compromise detect
grep 'POST /api/register' /var/log/nginx/access.log | grep -E '(unusual_payload|sqli_pattern)'アクセスログで
POST /api/registerへの異常なリクエスト (不正な認証ヘッダ・SQLメタ文字)を過去 30〜90日分捜索。WAF/SIEM があれば該当パスのアラート発火履歴を確認。 -
3Post-deployment verification verify
Replay attack against POST /api/register on staging to confirm patch closes the vectorパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番では Step 2 と同じログクエリでアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
