Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in @angular/platform-server (CVE-2026-50556)
Summary
Cross-site scripting in @angular/platform-server (CVE-2026-50556). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Exploitable via domino.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
A Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in @angular/platform-server's DOM emulation dependency (domino) when serializing the content of `` elements.
When rendering dynamic text content inside a element via template bindings (such as `{{ value }}` or `[textContent]`), the template engine expects the browser to render the content safely. Under Server-Side Rendering (SSR), `domino` is configured with scripting enabled, meaning is treated as a raw-text element.
However, domino's serializer completely omitted from the list of raw-text elements requiring closing-tag escaping during DOM serialization. As a result, any occurrence of in the bound dynamic text was never escaped under any circumstances.
The unescaped closing tag was serialized directly into the output HTML (e.g. alert(1)). When parsed by a browser, it closes the block early, allowing the injected block to execute in the user's browser context, causing same-origin Cross-Site Scripting (XSS).
Impact
This vulnerability allows an attacker to perform same-origin Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks against any user visiting an SSR-rendered page that binds user-controlled data inside a `` element. This can lead to session hijacking, credentials theft, unauthorized actions on behalf of users, and defacement.

CVE-2026-50556 (@angular/platform-server) — CWE-79 / CVSS v3 6.1
Attack vector: remote (network-reachable) / unauthenticated
Attack surface: domino
Plan: 1) Audit SBOM/dependencies, 2) Stage→prod upgrade, 3) Add WAF/proxy monitoring on affected endpoints, 4) Hunt IOCs in logs.
Refs: see the GHSA / vendor advisory / patched release linked on this page.
Cross-site scripting (XSS) (CWE-79) exists in @angular/platform-server. Attackers reach the vulnerable code path via domino without authentication.
Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions of @angular/platform-server. Attack surface: domino.
Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.1/10). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure.
Update to the patched release per vendor advisory.
Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.
Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Run grep -r '@angular/platform-server' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.
