Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in snipe/snipe-it (CVE-2026-55466)
Summary
Cross-site scripting in snipe/snipe-it (CVE-2026-55466). Confidential information can be exposed externally. Exploitable via mimes. Mitigation: upgrade to 8.6.2 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
Snipe-IT is an IT asset/license management system. Prior to 8.6.2, UploadFileRequest sanitizes SVG content only when PHP finfo reports image/svg+xml and UploadedFilesController serves attachments inline without using StorageHelper::allowSafeInline(), allowing a low-privilege user to upload active XHTML or XML content that is later served same-origin and executes JavaScript in a viewer’s browser. This issue is fixed in version 8.6.2.

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'snipe/snipe-it' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
2Apply patch patch
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
