CVE-2026-57480

Vulnerability in parse (CVE-2026-57480)

Summary

Vulnerability in parse (CVE-2026-57480). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Exploitable via requestComplexity.queryDepth. Mitigation: upgrade to 8.6.82, 9.9.1 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. Prior to 9.9.1-alpha.12 and 8.6.82, deeply nested $or, $and, and $nor query condition operators in the REST API or LiveQuery query handling could trigger exponential-time processing in the internal query-traversal helper and block the Node.js event loop. This issue is fixed in versions 9.9.1-alpha.12 and 8.6.82.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'parse' . | grep -v node_modules

  2. 2
    Apply temporary workaround mitigate
There is no complete configuration-only workaround on affected versions.

There is no complete configuration-only workaround on affected versions.

  3. 3
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade parse to 8.6.82, 9.9.1

  4. 4
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production
