CVE-2026-58012 medium CVSS 6.5

Vulnerability in GLib (CVE-2026-58012)

Summary

Vulnerability in GLib (CVE-2026-58012). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Exploitable via G_REGEX_RAW.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

A flaw was found in GLib. A buffer over-read can occur in the g_regex_replace function when used with the G_REGEX_RAW compile flag and case-change replacement escapes because the string_append function processes matched substrings using UTF-8 functions that assume valid UTF-8 input, even when the string is treated as raw bytes. This vulnerability can cause a minor information disclosure of 1-5 bytes and a denial of service when the buffer over-read crosses a page boundary.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'GLib' . | grep -v node_modules

    リポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で GLib を grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。

  2. 2
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production

    パッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
