Out-of-Bounds Read in Blender (CVE-2026-60103)

Summary

Vulnerability in Blender (CVE-2026-60103). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

Blender 3.0.0 through 5.1.2 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability that allows attackers to trigger a crash or read adjacent heap memory by supplying a crafted .blend file with a malicious signed short member_index value in the SDNA block. The member_index field is used as an array index into the sdna->members[] array in sdna_expand_names() without bounds validation, allowing any value outside the allocated range to produce an invalid pointer subsequently passed to strlen(), resulting in a SIGSEGV crash or unintended heap memory disclosure.

❓ What is the problem

Out-of-bounds read (CWE-125) exists in Blender.

📍 Affected scope

Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions of Blender.

🔥 Severity

Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.1/10). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure.

🔧 How to fix

Update to the patched release per vendor advisory.

🛡️ Workaround

Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.

🔍 Detection

Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Run grep -r 'Blender' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'Blender' . | grep -v node_modules

    リポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で Blender を grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。

  2. 2
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production

    パッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
