CVE-2026-61428 high CVSS 7.3

Vulnerability in praisonai (CVE-2026-61428)

Summary

Vulnerability in praisonai (CVE-2026-61428). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Exploitable via POST /webhook. Mitigation: upgrade to 4.6.78 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

PraisonAI AgentMail versions before 4.6.78 lack signature verification in webhook mode, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject messages with spoofed sender addresses. Attackers can POST crafted message.received events to the webhook endpoint to inject arbitrary content into the agent and trigger replies to attacker-controlled addresses, bypassing sender allow/block lists.

🔧 How to fix

Update to 4.6.78.

🛡️ Workaround

Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.

🔍 Detection

Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual POST /webhook requests with malformed payloads or SQL meta-characters. Run grep -r 'praisonai' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'praisonai' . | grep -v node_modules

  2. 2
Hunt for indicators of compromise detect
    grep 'POST /webhook' /var/log/nginx/access.log | grep -E '(unusual_payload|sqli_pattern)'

  3. 3
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade praisonai to 4.6.78

  4. 4
    Post-deployment verification verify
Replay attack against POST /webhook on staging to confirm patch closes the vector
