Vulnerability in praisonaiagents (CVE-2026-61437)
Summary
Vulnerability in praisonaiagents (CVE-2026-61437). Successful exploitation can lead to full system takeover. Exploitable via tools.py. Mitigation: upgrade to 1.6.78 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
Summary
An unsafe dynamic module loading vulnerability allows an attacker who can control a workflow file and a sibling tools.py to execute arbitrary Python code when the workflow is executed.
Details
The vulnerability is located in the workflow structured output resolution logic.
File: src/praisonai-agents/praisonaiagents/workflows/workflows.py
Method: AgentFlow._resolve_pydantic_class
if self.file_path:
workflow_dir = Path(self.file_path).parent
tools_path = workflow_dir / "tools.py"
if tools_path.exists():
spec = importlib.util.spec_from_file_location("tools", tools_path)
tools_module = importlib.util.module_from_spec(spec)
spec.loader.exec_module(tools_module) # Arbitrary code execution
This code is reached during step execution when a step uses a string output_pydantic:
step_output_pydantic = getattr(step, '_output_pydantic', None)
if step_output_pydantic and isinstance(step_output_pydantic, str):
resolved_class = self._resolve_pydantic_class(step_output_pydantic)
file_path is set automatically by:
WorkflowManager._load_workflow()(used by workspace discovery)WorkflowManager.create_workflow()
It can also be set manually after load_yaml():
wf = mgr.load_yaml("workflow.yaml")
wf.file_path = "workflow.yaml"
The exec_module() call has no sandboxing and ignores the PRAISONAI_ALLOW_*_TOOLS environment variables used elsewhere in the project.

CVE-2026-61437 (praisonaiagents) — CWE-693 / CVSS v3 7.8
Attack vector: local / unauthenticated
Attack surface: tools.py / output_pydantic / file_path / PRAISONAI_ALLOW_TEMPLATE_TOOLS
Patched: 1.6.78 — apply immediately
Plan: 1) Audit SBOM/dependencies, 2) Stage→prod upgrade, 3) Add WAF/proxy monitoring on affected endpoints, 4) Hunt IOCs in logs.
Refs: see the GHSA / vendor advisory / patched release linked on this page.
A vulnerability (CWE-693) exists in praisonaiagents. Attackers reach the vulnerable code path via tools.py without authentication.
Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions of praisonaiagents. Attack surface: tools.py / output_pydantic / file_path / PRAISONAI_ALLOW_TEMPLATE_TOOLS.
Severity: High (CVSS 7.8/10). Successful exploitation can lead to full system takeover.
Update to 1.6.78.
Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.
Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Run grep -r 'praisonaiagents' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.
Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'praisonaiagents' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
praisonaiagentsを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Apply patch patch
Upgrade praisonaiagents to 1.6.78ステージング環境で 1.6.78 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスを含めること。
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
