CVE-2026-63459 high CVSS 8.7

Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in @vendure/dashboard (CVE-2026-63459)

Summary

Cross-site scripting in @vendure/dashboard (CVE-2026-63459). Confidential information can be exposed externally. Exploitable via innerHTML. Mitigation: upgrade to 3.6.5 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

Stored XSS in the Admin Dashboard via unsafe HTML-stripping (innerHTML) of entity descriptions

Package: @vendure/dashboard (vendure-ecommerce/vendure, latest master) ·

Summary

The dashboard's RichTextDescriptionCell "strips HTML" from an entity's description by assigning it to a live element's innerHTML and reading back textContent. This pattern still executes active markup: a description containing `` runs script when the element is parsed (image resource loads even on a detached node in Chromium/Firefox, firing onerror). Because description is an admin-settable field shown in multiple list views, a lower-privilege administrator can store a payload that executes in a higher-privilege administrator's browser when they open the corresponding list — stored XSS leading to admin-session compromise.

Vulnerable code

packages/dashboard/src/lib/components/shared/table-cell/order-table-cell-components.tsx

export const RichTextDescriptionCell: DataTableCellComponent<{ description: string }> = ({ cell }) => {
    const value = cell.getValue();
    const textContent = useMemo(() => {
        if (!value) return '';
        const div = document.createElement('div');
        div.innerHTML = value;          // line 51 — parses/loads active markup;  fires here
        return div.textContent ?? ''; // line 52 — reading textContent does NOT undo the side effect
    }, [value]);
    ...
}

innerHTML does not run ``, but it does trigger…

❓ What is the problem

Cross-site scripting (XSS) (CWE-79) exists in @vendure/dashboard. Attackers reach the vulnerable code path via innerHTML.

📍 Affected scope

Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions of @vendure/dashboard. Attack surface: innerHTML / RichTextDescriptionCell / description / textContent.

🔥 Severity

Severity: High (CVSS 8.7/10). Confidential information can be exposed externally.

🔧 How to fix

Update to 3.6.5.

🛡️ Workaround

Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.

🔍 Detection

Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Run grep -r '@vendure/dashboard' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r '@vendure/dashboard' . | grep -v node_modules

    リポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で @vendure/dashboard を grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。

  2. 2
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade @vendure/dashboard to 3.6.5

    ステージング環境で 3.6.5 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスを含めること。

  3. 3
    Post-deployment verification verify
    Confirm patched version is live in production

    パッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
