Vulnerability in n8n (CVE-2026-65599)
Summary
Vulnerability in n8n (CVE-2026-65599). Confidential information can be exposed externally. Exploitable via kid. Mitigation: upgrade to 2.29.8 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
n8n versions before 1.123.64, 2.29.8, and 2.30.1 contain a credential exposure vulnerability: when configured with a Google Service Account key, the full PEM private key was mistakenly placed in the JWT header's kid field (intended only for a key identifier). Because JWT headers are Base64-encoded rather than encrypted, the private key could be recovered by anything that logged or inspected the JWT. An attacker who obtained the key could impersonate the service account and access or modify any Google Cloud resource it was authorized to use. Only instances using Google Service Account credentials are affected.

Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'n8n' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
n8nを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Apply patch patch
Upgrade n8n to 2.29.8ステージング環境で 2.29.8 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスを含めること。
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
