Path Traversal in Office-Word-MCP-Server (CVE-2026-65695)
Summary
Path traversal in Office-Word-MCP-Server (CVE-2026-65695). Confidential information can be exposed externally.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
Office-Word-MCP-Server through 1.1.11 contains a path traversal vulnerability in its document tools that allows attackers who can influence the filename argument to read arbitrary .docx files or create and overwrite .docx files outside the intended working directory. Attackers can supply absolute paths or ../ traversal sequences directly to document open and save operations, bypassing the check_file_writeable and ensure_docx_extension helpers which perform no base-directory confinement or realpath validation.

-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'Office-Word-MCP-Server' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
Office-Word-MCP-Serverを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
