CVE-2026-81179 high CVSS 8.1

Vulnerability in SysReptor (CVE-2026-81179)

Summary

Vulnerability in SysReptor (CVE-2026-81179). Confidential information can be exposed externally. Exploitable via Host header.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

SysReptor is a fully customizable pentest reporting platform. Prior to 2026.58, installations that enable password reset by email while configuring ALLOWED_HOSTS with a wildcard accept an attacker-controlled Host header when generating a password reset link. An unauthenticated attacker can request a reset email whose link points to an attacker-controlled system, and a victim who follows that link can disclose the reset token, allowing the attacker to reset the victim's password and take over the account. Exploitation also requires a configured email gateway and an email address for the victim, while some reverse proxy configurations may reject the hostile Host header. This issue is fixed in version 2026.58.

🔧 How to fix

Update to the patched release per vendor advisory.

🛡️ Workaround

Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.

🔍 Detection

Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Run grep -r 'SysReptor' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'SysReptor' . | grep -v node_modules

    リポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で SysReptor を grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。

  2. 2
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production

    パッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
