Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) in concrete5/concrete5 (CVE-2026-8417)

Summary

Vulnerability in concrete5/concrete5 (CVE-2026-8417). Successful exploitation can lead to full system takeover. Mitigation: upgrade to 9.5.1 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

Concrete CMS 9.5.0 and below does not validate a CSRF token before processing requests to /dashboard/extend/update/do_update/. The do_update() method in concrete/controllers/single_page/dashboard/extend/update.php checks only canInstallPackages() before executing upgradeCoreData() and upgrade() on the named package's controller. Because the endpoint is a state-changing GET route with no token enforcement, an attacker can force an authenticated administrator to trigger a package upgrade via a single cross-site navigation. In order to be vulnerable, the victim must be passing canInstallPackages() and and a target package must already be already installed. The Concrete CMS security team gave this vulnerability a CVSS v.4.0 score of 7.5 with vector CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:P/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N. Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'concrete5/concrete5' . | grep -v node_modules

    リポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で concrete5/concrete5 を grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。

  2. 2
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade concrete5/concrete5 to 9.5.1

    ステージング環境で 9.5.1 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスを含めること。

  3. 3
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production

    パッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
