Original description

The description as published by the source.

PJSIP is a free and open source multimedia communication library written in C. Prior to version 2.17, on GnuTLS builds, the SIP TLS transport (sip_transport_tls) can accept connections with invalid or untrusted certificates even when the application explicitly enables certificate verification via verify_server = PJ_TRUE or verify_client = PJ_TRUE. This issue has been patched in version 2.17.

🔍 Detection

Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Run grep -r 'asterisk' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'asterisk' . | grep -v node_modules

  2. 2
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production
