Vulnerability in linux (DEBIAN-CVE-2026-45864)
Summary
Vulnerability in linux (DEBIAN-CVE-2026-45864). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Mitigation: upgrade to 6.1.170-1 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/ntfs3: prevent infinite loops caused by the next valid being the same When processing valid within the range [valid : pos), if valid cannot be retrieved correctly, for example, if the retrieved valid value is always the same, this can trigger a potential infinite loop, similar to the hung problem reported by syzbot [1]. Adding a check for the valid value within the loop body, and terminating the loop and returning -EINVAL if the value is the same as the current value, can prevent this. [1] INFO: task syz.4.21:6056 blocked for more than 143 seconds. Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'linux' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
linuxを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Apply patch patch
Upgrade linux to 6.1.170-1ステージング環境で 6.1.170-1 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスを含めること。
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
