Original description
The description as published by the source.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sockmap: Fix use-after-free in udp_bpf_recvmsg() syzbot reported use-after-free of struct sk_msg in sk_msg_recvmsg(). [0] sk_msg_recvmsg() peeks sk_msg from psock->ingress_msg under a lock, but its processing is lockless. Thus, sk_msg_recvmsg() must be serialised by callers, otherwise multiple threads could touch the same sk_msg. For example, TCP uses lock_sock(), and AF_UNIX uses unix_sk(sk)->iolock. Initially, udp_bpf_recvmsg() had used lock_sock(), but the cited commit removed it. Let's serialise sk_msg_recvmsg() with lock_sock() in udp_bpf_recvmsg(). Note that holding spin_lock_bh(&sk->sk_receive_queue.lock) is not an option due to copy_page_to_iter() in sk_msg_recvmsg(). Check the vendor advisory for the affected versions of linux.
Severity: ?. Successful exploitation can lead to full system takeover.
Update to 7.1.5-1.
Until the patch is applied: disable the affected feature, apply WAF rules, or restrict access via network ACLs.
Search webserver/proxy logs for unusual request patterns matching this CVE's known IOCs. Run grep -r 'linux' . against your dependency files (package-lock.json, requirements.txt, go.sum) to find affected services.
Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'linux' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
linuxを grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。 -
2Apply patch patch
Upgrade linux to 7.1.5-1ステージング環境で 7.1.5-1 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスを含めること。
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in productionパッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
