Vulnerability in zstd-jni-java (DEBIAN-CVE-2026-89045)

Summary

Vulnerability in zstd-jni-java (DEBIAN-CVE-2026-89045). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Mitigation: upgrade to 1.5.7-23+ds-1 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

zstd-jni versions 1.4.8-4 through 1.5.7-13 fail to validate negative length parameters in ZstdInputStreamNoFinalizer.read(), allowing attackers to trigger infinite loops. Attackers can pass negative length values to cause the read method to spin indefinitely while holding the stream monitor, blocking all other threads from accessing the stream.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'zstd-jni-java' . | grep -v node_modules

  2. 2
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade zstd-jni-java to 1.5.7-23+ds-1

  3. 3
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production
