Vulnerability in linux-hwe-edge (UBUNTU-CVE-2024-36884)
Summary
Vulnerability in linux-hwe-edge (UBUNTU-CVE-2024-36884). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Mitigation: upgrade to 6.8.0-1013.14~22.04.1 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/arm-smmu: Use the correct type in nvidia_smmu_context_fault() This was missed because of the function pointer indirection. nvidia_smmu_context_fault() is also installed as a irq function, and the 'void *' was changed to a struct arm_smmu_domain. Since the iommu_domain is embedded at a non-zero offset this causes nvidia_smmu_context_fault() to miscompute the offset. Fixup the types. Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'linux-hwe-edge' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
2Apply patch patch
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
