Vulnerability in curl (UBUNTU-CVE-2024-8096)
Summary
Vulnerability in curl (UBUNTU-CVE-2024-8096). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Mitigation: upgrade to 7.47.0-1ubuntu2.19+esm17 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
When curl is told to use the Certificate Status Request TLS extension, often referred to as OCSP stapling, to verify that the server certificate is valid, it might fail to detect some OCSP problems and instead wrongly consider the response as fine. If the returned status reports another error than 'revoked' (like for example 'unauthorized') it is not treated as a bad certficate.

Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'curl' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
2Apply patch patch
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
