Vulnerability in fastdds (UBUNTU-CVE-2025-62599)

Summary

Vulnerability in fastdds (UBUNTU-CVE-2025-62599). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Mitigation: upgrade to 2.6.11 or later.

Original description

The description as published by the source.

eprosima Fast DDS is a C++ implementation of the DDS (Data Distribution Service) standard of the OMG (Object Management Group). Prior to 2.6.11, 2.14.6, 3.2.4, 3.3.1, and 3.4.1, when the security mode is enabled, modifying the DATA Submessage within an SPDP packet sent by a publisher causes an Out-Of-Memory (OOM) condition, resulting in remote termination of Fast-DDS. If the fields of PID_IDENTITY_TOKEN or PID_PERMISSION_TOKEN in the DATA Submessage — specifically by tampering with the length field in readPropertySeq — are modified, an integer overflow occurs, leading to an OOM during the resize operation. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.6.11, 2.14.6, 3.2.4, 3.3.1, and 3.4.1.

Response actions

Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order

  1. 1
    Identify exposure identify
    grep -r 'fastdds' . | grep -v node_modules

    リポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で fastdds を grep し、稼働しているサービス・バージョンを把握する。

  2. 2
    Apply patch patch
    Upgrade fastdds to 2.6.11

    ステージング環境で 2.6.11 に上げて回帰テスト → 本番反映。回帰テストはアプリの主要ハッピーパスを含めること。

  3. 3
    Post-deployment verification verify
Confirm patched version is live in production

    パッチ適用後、ステージングで PoC または同等の悪用パターンを再現して脆弱性が閉じたことを確認。本番ではアクセスログ・WAF でアラート再発が無いか継続監視。
