Vulnerability in python-httplib2 (UBUNTU-CVE-2026-59939)
Summary
Vulnerability in python-httplib2 (UBUNTU-CVE-2026-59939). Risk of unauthorized operations or information disclosure. Mitigation: upgrade to 0.20.2-2ubuntu0.1 or later.
Original description
The description as published by the source.
httplib2 is a comprehensive HTTP client library for Python. Prior to 0.32.0, httplib2 performs unbounded decompression of HTTP response bodies encoded with Content-Encoding: gzip or deflate in _decompressContent in httplib2/init.py, allowing a malicious or compromised HTTP server to return a small compressed payload that expands to an arbitrarily large size in memory and causes MemoryError or OOM-kill in the client process. This issue is fixed in version 0.32.0.

Response actions
Concrete steps and command examples for SOC/SRE teams to execute in order
-
1Identify exposure identify
grep -r 'python-httplib2' . | grep -v node_modulesリポジトリと本番環境の依存ファイル (package-lock.json / requirements.txt / go.sum / Gemfile.lock 等) で
2Apply patch patch
-
3Post-deployment verification verify
